Tasktrox arrived with a stack of Notion docs, a battle-scarred Trello board, and one question. Why does software for architects feel like software for accountants?

The brief was deceptively simple: build a project-management tool that actually feels like the studios it serves. Tactile. Editorial. Quietly precise. Not another rectangle of tabs and toasts.

We threw out the SaaS playbook on day one. No purple gradients, no dashboard spaghetti, no AI-as-mascot. Instead we anchored the system in the language architects already speak: gridlines, plates, sectional cuts, marginalia.

A workspace that respects
the craft.

Three principles shaped every screen. One: replace dashboards with documents. A studio thinks in artifacts, not metrics — so the product treats every project as a living folio you can mark up, not a feed you scroll past.

Two: make the chrome quiet. Toolbars and toasts that earn their pixels. State changes that read as movement, not noise. Three: keep the tool truthful. If a number is provisional, say so. If a milestone slipped, show the slippage rather than recolour the badge.

“For the first time the software respects the way our studio actually thinks.”

The dashboard,
read like a plate.

The dashboard treats every project as an architectural plate. Sectional header, living grid, margin notes — the right rail is for context, never controls, lifted directly from the way studios annotate drawings.

Cards align to the 8-pt grid but breathe within it. No two states look identical without reason. Motion is 240ms expo.out — fast enough to feel earned, slow enough to read.
